Artist, Entrepreneur, IDEAS 40203
I earned my BA in Theater and Art Studio from Transylvania University in Lexington, KY and my JD/MHA from Tulane University in New Orleans. While still in my twenties, I became administrator of one of the most respected heart and vascular programs in the United States – Ochsner Heart & Vascular Institute. I went on to lead the heart and vascular development strategies for the southeastern region of the nation’s second largest hospital corporation and for the largest medical facility in Honolulu, HI. In my late thirties, I received my MFA Art Studio from the University of Kentucky.
A trans-disciplinary artist, my practice investigates the implications of the gentrification of ideas and commodification of identities within capitalist structures. As a corporate strategist who has been in the arts from a very young age, my work is dedicated to establishing new value paradigms and mutually beneficial relationships between artists, entrepreneurs, corporations and emerging philanthropic structures.
Before founding I.D.E.A.S. 40203, a contemporary art chamber of commerce, I was both an artist-in-residence and then Creative Development Director for Residency Unlimited (RU). Focusing the artistic process in strategic ways to create innovative, entrepreneurial activity while simultaneously contributing depth and substance to emerging forms of contemporary art is at the core of my professional and artistic endeavors.
