Professor Khoa Do

Khoa Do is A Professor in the Disciplines of Architecture and Construction Management at Curtin University. He is a trained Australian Architect with over a decade and a half in academia and architectural practice combined. Khoa brings together the best of his discipline knowledge to his scholarship of education design. He has practiced with international award winning multidisciplinary design firm HASSELL where he occupied the role of academic in resident as a creative thinker and innovator for HASSELL. On his return to Curtin in 2014 Khoa was appointed Director of International and Alumni Engagement for the School of Built Environment and at the beginning of 2015 Khoa was then appointed Director of Teaching & Learning for the School of Built Environment at Curtin University. Khoa has received a number of prestigious design and teaching awards in recognition of his significant contribution and leadership in architectural education and design practice, notably in 2010 Khoa was awarded an Australian National Teaching Award by the Australian Office of Learning and Teaching (OLT).

Associate Professor Khoa Do is a design thinker who pioneers new knowledge, practices and promotes scholarship beyond the classroom by embracing: the border-less global education paradigm, harnessing the disruptive technologies, being culturally engaged and connecting the digital and analogue platforms. He seeks more shared learning and collaboration with other colleagues globally to share expertise and together build an enriching and meaningful interdisciplinary community of practices. Khoa in 2015 was inducted as a Fellow of the Curtin Academy (http://www.curtin.edu.au/cli/curtin_academy/curtin_fellows.cfm) which recognises the most outstanding educators for his exceptional pedagogical expertise. He is the director of the Global Design Studio Program (GDS Program - www.g-d-s.com.au).

The Global . Design . Studio (G.D.S Program) is an active community-network of creatives collaborating on projects supporting the design, development and delivery of innovative approaches to education, research and practice. It is fundamentally a knowledge sharing and community engagement platform for participating creatives.

The team shares a strong belief in the importance of creating avenues to respond to complex challenges facing built environments worldwide by interconnecting intelligence across creative industries, practice and academia.
