Landscape Architect DPLG, RIPTIDE Culture & City
Titled “DPLG” by the French Government after 6 years in the National School of Landscape and Architecture in Bordeaux, Michael Patte has over 17 years of design experience across Switzerland, France and many cities in PRC including Chongqing, Taiyuan, Xi’an and Shenzhen.
Passionate about design and urban identity, Michael Patte began organizing a series of community events promoting urban culture and community participation since relocating to China in 2007. In 2009 he founded Riptide, an NGO to continue organizing creative urban participation projects such as ‘PechaKucha’,’Coaster Raid’ and ‘Window of My World’.
Michael published these events and observations in various media articles and books. His ebook titled “Et Pendant Ce Temps En Chine” (“And during this time in China”) was awarded the ‘Most Popular Web Literature Award’ and published by Plurielle.fr in France. In March 2014 Michael has been awarded ‘10 Best Creative Designers’, UNESCO Shenzhen City Of Design; an attribution by Shenzhen for his dedication in urban culture. Through active involvement in local culture and community, Michael Patte has a unique and in-depth approach in landscape design.
