Mark Van der Heijden
In order to break down the borders of his comfort zone, Mark began a project that would test not only his boundaries, but also the boundaries of convention in the field of communication. In January 2014, Mark waved goodbye to his job(s), tossed his home into a backpack, and hit the world as a wandering intern. In exchange for food and lodgings, Mark helps agencies, brands and charities by providing new perspectives and creative solutions for communication challenges big and small. So far he has worked for companies such as Amnesty International Thailand, McCann Worldgroup Bangkok, JWT Buenos Aires, DDB Vietnam, TBWA\Chiat\Day Los Angeles, International Medical Corps UK and Red Bull Creative in Austria. He worked with the legendary hitmaker Nile Rodgers, ex-drugtraffickers in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro and served food to homeless people at Kechara Soup Kitchen in Malaysia. His journey has brought him to 22 countries on 5 continents, including Antarctica, where Mark helped out One Ocean Expeditions on a Polar trip to the coldest continent in the world.
