Making Boys Cry, and Other Ways to Change the World

@ VOL 20 ON DEC 01, 2015

"I sat on the steps of the supreme court step while the justices were deciding on same-sex marriage. As we looked around to see people discovering the news, the joy was overwhelming. It was such a cool moment to know that my generation was seeing the love and acceptance that could come from the human experience."

In Making Boys Cry, and Other Ways to Change the World from PechaKuhca Night San Antonio Vol. 20, Kylie Helterbrand, an eighth-grade student graduating high school in 2020, isn’t waiting until commencement to start changing the world. Already, global issues like climate change, terrorism, the wage gap and marriage equality are front-and-center in her world. Despite how daunting these challenges appear, she also knows they’re not insurmountable. She challenges audiences and her peers alike to get started making positive change today.
