Dearing has always been mesmerized by ceramic art. Her exploration began in high school when she created a sculpture of a West African woman that went on to win a National Scholastic Art Award. She has studied ceramics in every place she has lived….Nashville, Guatil (Costa Rica), Austin, and Asheville have all held creative spaces and teachers that have shaped her development. In the last year she has become a resident potter at The Village Potters in the River Arts District of Asheville. Dearing holds a masters degree in social work and is credentialed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She delights in travel and is always seeking to meet and connect with local potters in order to learn more about their techniques, creative process, and life stories.
