Artist, Alexandra Becker-Black
Born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Alexandra has been creating art all of her life. Formally trained in Illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design, Alexandra’s relationship with watercolors started with an odd step when she was forced to choose a new medium after developing an allergic reaction to oil paints. Within weeks of first painting with watercolors, Alexandra found her medium and her new voice. Years later the majority of her technique is still self-taught through her natural exploration of the paint and its applications. Long before a paintbrush ever touched her hand, drawing was Alexandra’s original medium. She continues to draw today, exploring new techniques and concepts by pushing the boundaries between realism and dream-scapes.
Alexandra lives in Portland, Oregon where she enjoys the city's beautiful scenery, and relaxed culture. She is a member of the Falcon Art Community, and when not in her studio she can be found cooking and practicing yoga.

ON JUN 13, 2017
As a visual Artist, precision and perfectionism has always played a dominant role in Alexandra Becker-Black's work and have also surfaced in nearly every aspect of her day-to-day life. Once she discovered her passion for watercolors, she realized the need for complete control over something was not serving her. She will be discussing her needs to control reality along with her desire to be free from the confines of perfectionism.
