Ending the Year in PKN

Looking at the PechaKucha Night calendar for December reveals that there are just a few PKNs left until the end of 2010, with the very last one happening Christmas day in Nagoya (Vol. 7). You're other opportunities are tonight (December 22) in Nishinomiya, Providence, and Panama, tomorrow night (December 23) in Catania, and then Friday (December 24) in St. Petersburg. But don't fret, January is already filling up with scheduled events, and you'll even be able to kick of the new year on the first with PKNs in both Philadelphia and Taos.

8 Years!

As we posted yesterday, February 20 is the date of PechaKucha's inception, and this year marks the 8th year of an event that started all those years ago as a one-off at SuperDeluxe in Roppongi, Tokyo. On Wednesday (February 23) we'll be hosting PKN Tokyo Vol. 80, and we're of course inviting everyone to come and join us in celebrating the occasion -- and looking at the list of presenters (which should be up later today on the official event page), it looks like it's going to be an inspiring evening as well. See you then!

11 Years!

Yesterday, on February 20, we turned 11. Yes, after starting as a one-off event in Tokyo back in 2003, PechaKucha has grown up, and surprising even us, it's bigger than ever. We sent out a global newsletter yesterday that highlights 20 moments and things from 2013 in the world of PechaKucha, and you can read it online here. Last night we celebrated the occasion at PechaKucha Night Tokyo's Vol. 111 -- yes, 111 for our 11 anniversary -- and the crowd shot you see here (taken by Michael Holmes, with a larger version below) shows you that it was quite the party.

Happy New Year

New Year's resolutions should by definition start on January 1st. But the resolution I am writing about actually sprung into life a few months ago. Have you ever found yourself in a conversation with friends saying: "I would love to see more interesting events in my city"? On October 24th, while walking home from Barcamp 2015, the thought arose that Shanghai needed more non-profit events where people could share their ideas, work, and stories. And if you love to see something happen, then why not make it happen? Long story short: aforementioned thought quickly grew into a resolution that we would organize new PKNs in Shanghai. I am delighted to write that we just sent out our newsletter to announce PKN Shanghai Vol 26! With the help of the fertile ground created by the previous 25 PKNs, we expect to grow many more such events. Best wishes for 2016. We hope you come and see the first result of our New Year's resolution on January 14th.
