She considers what has happened to the traditional sense of romance and where all of the Mr. Darcy's have gone. However, she proposes that maybe the romance is still present today, just in different forms.

He uses a clock as one example of this concept; it could be described classically as functional and mechanical, or romantically as a work of art, a specific time may reference a feeling, and so forth.
