Liz's latest restoration project is a big one! The SS Columbia - America's oldest excursion steamship - is making its way back to the Hudson River - listen to her tale of bringing the ship back to life!

Neil Curtis is Head of Museums in the University of Aberdeen, with a background in archaeology and anthropology, and directs the Museum Studies Masters programme. His presentation is about Sir William MacGregor, one of the most important donors of ethnographic material to the University (from Fiji, New Guinea, Nigeria, Newfoundland and Australia). For Neil, he is particularly interesting because he did not simply plunder, but collected items for many different reasons, including: for scientific research; to create a records of disappearing cultures; and to inspire the people of Aberdeenshire to work elsewhere in the world.

"Car! ... Game on!" Nostalgia, esprit de corps, bloody smiles, fraternal nicknames, intrepid rivalries, asphalt and hockey sticks -- this is the stuff of pastimes. Longtime photographer, would-be historian, and road hockey habitué Mario Bartel speaks of his lifetime relationship with what he has dubbed Canada's national pastime. In today's Presentation of the Day, "Canada's Pastime: Road Hockey" from PKN New Westminster Vol. 2, Mario talks about his unofficial local league (made up of various members of the community), which plays from October to May in any weather. He shares how, over the years, various traditions have sprung up around the games, and naturally -- as a photographer -- Bartel has covered them all.
