It is about creating peace within the self and teaching our our offspring the same values. It is about inspiring all genders to remove the stereotypical toxic ideas of beauty and the things we do to achieve such heights, and instead see to love our own truths and the truths of others.

Form Follows Beauty

Picture yourself relaxing on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro, sipping coconut juice, all the while taking time to enjoy the simple, fluid contours of the waves and mountains. Are you getting it? Well, architect and co-host to PKN Chicago Peter Exley is living it.  In this edition of "Presentation of the Day", Exley speaks of the "free and sensual curves" he illustrates on his iPhone while out and about. He demonstrates the importance of recognizing the meandering lines found in nature, and shows how some architects (like the recently passed Oscar Niemeyer) translate these lines into their work. You'll find, as he says, "form doesn't follow function, form follows beauty".

In the fascinating "A Beautiful Reality" from PKN Midcoast, Maine Vol. 18, Ralph describes the primitivistic approach to his art: he does not think his pictures - he feels them.

The Profound Beauty of Indigo

"The choice to plant, transplant, weed, harvest, winnow, dry, compost, and ferment indigo entirely by hand is longer one of necessity. It is political. It is beautiful. It is labour. It is life." In The Profound Beauty of Indigo from Chicago's Powered by PechaKucha Event: United States Artists 2014 Artists Assembly, Ronald Ricketts shares his story of moving to Japan to teach English and explore Japanese craft heritage. He discovered indigo leaves and had an apprenticeship at a Tokushima dye factory. He became an indigo farmer, dyer and visual artist.
