Do You Have PK Stories to Share?

Here at PechaKucha Daily we're always looking to share different aspects of PechaKucha culture to the world, and although the majority of posts tend to cover event posters and event reviews, we'd also love to hear from you, the people who attend, or you, the presenters. Tell us about your experience at the events, or what it was like presenting, or how you came up with your presentation images. Tell us your stories, and we'll be happy to share them.

2000 Stories

This is not the 2000th post on the blog, but the post that has that honnor did get posted earlier today, and it's another milestone we can add to the list of big numbers we've been hitting lately (PechaKucha's 9th anniversary, 500 cities, 90 PechaKucha Nights in Tokyo). That means that we've had the pleasure of sharing a great deal of PechaKucha-related stories here, and we have no intention of stopping anytime soon.

The Stories of Rocks

Geologist Patrick Johnstone's job rocks! I know, I know, these jokes take such a mineral amount of effort -- I couldn't resist. In today's Presentation of the Day, "The Stories of Rocks" (from PKN New Westminster, Vol. 2), we find that, through studying trace fossils, Johnstone can infer the behavior and the environments of countless ancient species. Using tools and evidence developed by scientists over many years, he can explore the narrative of the rock that he is studying.

PKN 2 in Vientiane!

Vientiane's second PechaKucha Night took place on March 31, 2016, with more than 120 people coming together upstairs at Coco&Co.! Vintage furniture, chandleirs, and a crazy cat pillow - thank you Coco for letting us invade the coolest living room in Vientiane! The event brought together nine of the Capital's creative, innovative and talented minds: social media photographer Janna Gibson, avid mapper Matthias Bethke, documentary maker and journalist Vannaphone Sitthirath (Kino), photographer Tessa Bunney, theatre director Margarete Magiera, publishing manager Dominique le Roux, designer and cafe owner Nilada Ratanavong, cafe owner Yoko Matsushima, and photographer Micka Perier, to share their ideas with the community. Presentations spanned personal essays and life-shaping experiences, a culmination of 15 years of portrait photography, a spoken word performance, coffee as a means of communication, agriculture and mapping, a theatrical journey, and asking ourselves if we have a book in us.
