Talking about an emotional journey that brought her to tears, Ira Ali shares with us the ups-and-downs she faced while growing up and the battles she victored over when opportunities kept popping up in her life. Becoming a graphic designer made her content and happy and she got involved with a charity and volunteer work.

I Became an Artist and So Can You

Luis Mendo has been designing for 14 years. Before moving to Amsterdam, he worked in newspaper design teams in Barcelona. In june 2005 he founded GOOD Inc.® and was included in the “Top 10 best Art Directors in The Netherlands”. 

Next to his work as a designer, he has a double life as a illustrator and graphic artist. Luis writes in books, blogs and magazines, is part of juries, teaches editorial design and gives lectures & workshops internationally. In 2007 he founded the reliable freelancers group Goodfellas Network. Since 2012 he's also been the Design Director of the PechaKucha organisation.

On Latvia, Graphic Design, and Tokyo

Natalie Cernecka, from Latvia, was trying to find a graphic designer in Tokyo. While searching, she found a small Latvian shop in Nakameguro and went to talk to the owner. She was so enthralled by the story she heard that she wanted to share it with the world via PechaKucha. While at a PechaKucha event, she met another Latvian. Through her new Latvian friend, she found a graphic designer from Ecuador who was able to help her.
