Oliver Olson’s second PechaKucha talk is extremely funny again. He did not know the slides beforehand. Having worked in banking, real estate, IT, education and marketing, Oliver does not need any story to engage his audience.

Creativity Loves Constraints: Improvisation, Always our Very Best Alternative
BY GERT POPPE
In business as in life, we try to control the future by making (business) strategies and (marketing) plans. But most of the time, things turn our differently, don’t go as planned. And then we fall back on improvisation.
Improvisation always is our very best alternative. We improvise when something unexpected happens; we improvise because we have forgotten to take certain influences into account; we improvise when people behave differently than we expected.
The best leaders, the best managers, the best professionals are not those that excel in analysis and making plans and strategies, but the ones that fully master and exploit their improvisation skills.
And, by the way, improvisation is also a very useful approach to living one’s life.

@ VOL 4
ON MAY 03, 2018
In the summer of 2017, Lara Mitofsky Neuss attended an Improvisation Workshop at Orford Musique in Canada taught by Swedish Percussionist Anders Ästrand. This workshop led to a recent performance and educational tour in Sweden. Her presentation focuses on her growth and connection both in performance and pedagogy related to connecting with herself and with students through improvisation. She takes the audience on a journey that she experienced while learning improvisation. She became more connected and open as she allowed herself to freely improvise without judgement. This growth has now allowed her to perform and teach improvisation around the world, sharing her experience with others.
