Stand Up Paddling

BY HENRIK FAHLÉN
IN VARBERG

SUP stands for "Stand Up Paddleboarding," which means that you stand up on a big surfboard and use a paddle. This ancient form of surfing reemerged when surf instructors realized the benefits of it, that by being higher you can better see oncoming waves. Today, SUP has turned into the fastest growing water sport in the world. Mo Ride Across Canada

BY JORDAN GILDERSLEEVE
@ VOL 29 ON APR 01, 2014

When Jordan Gildersleeve found out his father had colon cancer, he was willing to go to great lengths to help out in whatever way he could. This led him and some friends to do Moustache Ride Across Canada, a 4,500 km wintertime cycling trip in support of Movember. Along the way, they had their fair share of ups and downs, from beautiful vistas to frozen bikes and a stinky RV but ultimately the trip ended up raising over $160,000 for prostate and testicular cancer research. Above all, the trip stressed the importance of being diligent and open about men’s physical and mental health.
