Come and enjoy another night of interesting, fast-paced talks from some of the north-west's top creatives, thinkers and doers all taking the PechaKucha challenge: 20 images, 20 seconds per image, no stopping.
The theme for this event is 'reflection'. Come along if you want to hear stories about the school that teaches refugees how to code, the organisation that is tackling loneliness and isolation in Manchester and the forum where you can discuss death in the digital age. Are you interested in how virtual reality is affecting our behaviour? Or how a desire to be a horse can lead you into advertising? Or how you can your work published easily? Then this is the event for you.
We'll be at the Fairfield Social Club, home of the excellent GRUB Street food market, next Piccadilly train station. It's our biggest space yet! As ever, we'll be running activities in the breaks. This time, you can look forward to another challenge to make art from Elaborate Club and take part in our inaugural 'rock, paper, scissors but with plasticine' competition (with prizes!) hosted by Designasaur. And, if we can find a vehicle big enough, we'll have the riso printer from MARC the Printers.
We have a line-up of ten amazing speakers. Want to know who they are?...
- Simon Bray - Photographer and Loved&Lost Project
- Olivia Downing - Copywriter and Founder of Chicks in Advertising
- Alex Khanyaghma - Development Officer at Manchester Cares
- Designasaur - Stop Motion Animator
- Alan Ionita - Software Developer and Co-organiser of CodeYourFuture
- Steve Clarkson - Writer and Founder of #FoundFiction
- Sarah Unwin - Founder of The Death Forum
- Dr Maria Panagiotidi - Lecturer in Psychology at Staffordshire University
- Kate Feld - Writer and Lecturer
- Jack Sheppard - Product Designer
On the Night
The doors open at 19:00 and the talks start at 19:30. We'll have a beer break just after 20:20. The talks should be finished by 21:40 where you'll have a chance to mingle afterwards.
During the break, you'll be able to take part in the Elaborate Club workshop and the plasticine rock, paper, scissors competition!
Thanks as ever to our paper sponsors, G . F Smith.

About PechaKucha Night Manchester
PechaKucha Night Manchester was relaunched in June 2016 by a new team after an eighteen month hiatus.
This is our tenth PechaKucha following a string of successful events. We are indebted to the support of Manchester’s creative scene coming along as speakers and audience members as well as our previous hosts, SpacePortX, Ziferblat, The Wonder Inn, Neo, the Rapha Clubhouse, PLANT, Texture, the International Anthony Burgess Foundation and the Bright Building. Most importantly, thank YOU for keeping us going!
PechaKucha Nights will continue take place every three months at venues across Manchester. Our mission is to feature a high calibre of creatives, designers, artists and community projects from the city and the North.
