The Science of Color in Nature

BY ANDY GORIS

We've all enjoyed the colors of a rainbow, or butterfly, or flower, but have you ever wondered how those colors are being created? Why is the sky blue, or grass green? The answers are as fascinating as the colors themselves. Andy Goris describes some of the many ways colors are produced in nature and hopes to instill a new type of awe in what you are actually seeing.

The Yoga of Storytelling

BY MARY ROBERTS
@ VOL 3 ON JAN 18, 2018

Isak Dinesen, the Danish writer, once said: “To be a person is to have a story to tell.” And a famous yogi once said that yoga is not about doing a bunch of postures well, it’s about the exploration and discovery of who we are. Mary Roberts shares that storytelling and practicing yoga share the common quality of self-inquiry. Without it, it’s just another story about our crazy family or a deep stretch to open the hip flexors. If we are to do either practice well, we must decide if we are willing to ask the hard questions or move past the fear of falling. It’s the only way it all makes sense.
