The Problem Solver and the Dreamer

BY ALLISON STOUT
@ VOL 1 ON OCT 28, 2014

Architecture is about people - we often forget this and this speech reemphasizes where I believe the focus should be in our profession.

Architect and dreamer, Allison Stout expresses her desire to build for the ones who cannot afford it. She hopes for a day that all that need a home, can have a home. Used to working for the 1%, she had come to understand that her job is not building for those who can afford it, but to build safe homes and communities. No matter who you are, or how much you make.

"I still haven't found what I'm looking for..."

BY STUART BROWN
@ VOL 1 ON OCT 28, 2014

Stuart Brown gives a heart warming account of his life through running and how running has provided him with goals and ambitions far beyond what he originally thought was possible. After Stuart's Step-Dad passed away from cancer, he was left with the thought of running in search for the cure to cancer. Life events can lead you on new adventures, allowing you to meet new friends along the way. His search continues but his speech will stop you in your tracks.

Caged Humans in Bali

BY INGETJE TADROS
@ VOL 1 ON OCT 28, 2014

Listen to Ingetje Tadros's stories - what she sees and feels is expressed fully through the words and her photographs. Through her photographs, Ingejte speaks about the families and people whom she met in Bali. Their stories of dealing with mental illness and forced to live in locked rooms. The experience has left her realizing that she takes her own freedom for granted.

East Timor Hearts

BY JULIE KEAN
@ VOL 1 ON OCT 28, 2014

In this heartwarming speech you get to meet the people and the patients of the East Timor Hearts Fund. Julie Kean goes into telling the stories of those in the poorest counties in the world, and being saved by heart surgies. Some of the youngest members of those societies had poor health, and were able to be saved by the East Timor Hearts Clinic. Not funded by the government, and working with very low funding and supplies, this clinic makes it their job to do everything they can to save as many lives as possible.

Confessions of a Shopaholic

BY MONICA HICKS
@ VOL 1 ON OCT 28, 2014

Check out this light hearted story about retail design through Monica Hicks' eyes. Confessions from a Shopaholic, it is more than just buying things and maxing out your credit cards. It is about the shop design, shopping experience, customer service, and  product quality. And you also do not have to shop at high end lush brand name department stores. You can get the same experience from your local shops if you know where to look and what you know what you should expect.
