Joy through Apparel

BY ALEX LEE
@ VOL 25 ON SEP 20, 2013

Alex Lee from Joy Apparel explains how his unique project works. People submit pictures of their face and their passions to his website and buy a shirt with someone else's face and passion on it. Through doing this, people can spread their personalized messages to the rest of the world.

Heroes Are Made

BY PAUL DOWSETT

Vanishing Sustainable Foods

BY COOKIE ROSCOE
@ VOL 25 ON SEP 20, 2013

Cookie Roscoe frequents a farmers market. There she has met some of the last fishermen who practice sustainable fishing, farmers who know how to raise giant lettuce, farmers who raise chickens that lay green eggs, and farmers who know the importance of keeping an emergency stockpile of food. She is worried that all of this is disappearing.

Symphonies of the City

BY MARC DE PAPE
@ VOL 25 ON SEP 20, 2013

Marc De Pape noticed that people are often indifferent to small changes in the weather. To combat this, Marc has created a tool that plays music differently according to the environmental conditions of its location. Sort of like a wind chime, but not restricted to just wind.

"Presentation of the Day" on November 28, 2013.

An Army of Loving Robots

BY MATTHEW DEL DEGAN
@ VOL 25 ON SEP 20, 2013

Mathew Del Degan likes making things that make people smile. After the success of his initial robot, Mathew decided to make an army of robots to find the love in Toronto and inspire more people to do kind things. He made them out of concrete and spread them around the city. Every robot he made has a story of love and kindness connected to the number on its back.

"Presentation of the Day" on November 26, 2013.

Rooted to Kensington

BY POURIA LOTFI
@ VOL 25 ON SEP 20, 2013

Pouria Lotfi recently bought a building in Kensington and started his own cafe. Since then he has gotten to know his community and the unique surroundings that define its character. He argues that as Kensington residents move away and companies from other cities move in, Kensington is losing the qualities that make it great.

Fail Forward

BY ASHLEY GOOD
@ VOL 25 ON SEP 20, 2013

Failure is sticky. It’s well known that people learn better from stories of failure than stories of success, yet failure is rarely discussed. Instead of treating projects and ideas that previously failed as a massive repository of R&D knowledge, these invaluable stories are often never told or actively swept under the rug.

But change is afoot! Failure, or rather, failing intelligently is becoming an essential skill in the rapidly changing world we live in. Organizations and individuals are increasingly relying on methods of transforming failures into new and effective ways of solving our most important and complex challenges – catalyzing overdue, or otherwise needed change.

Ashley Good will take her 20x20 to get the audience thinking about what’s possible if we reframe our failures, what holds us back from maximizing our learning, and what it means to fail intelligently.
