Past San Jose, CA Event: VOL 1

Large wide stritch

October 20, 2009
@ The Improv
UPDATE: Confirmed: Michael Moon will be presenting "The Perils of Reflection". He adds "it’s likely to be perilous." We're very excited to have Michael on the team!

The theme for the first PKSJ event is REFLECTION.

Pecha Kucha themes set a tone but should not dictate a content barrier for presenters. Arguably an association with the theme is preferred, and probably expected by the audience.

1.the act of reflecting or the state of being reflected. image; representation; counterpart.

3.a fixing of the thoughts on something; careful consideration.

4.a thought occurring in consideration or meditation.

5.Physics, Optics. the return of light, heat, sound, etc., after striking a surface.

Presentations will include:

"My Problems with Monkeys" by stand up comic and user interface designer Howard Cooperstein

"I Shoot at Night" a review of amazing long-exposure night photography and stories about exploring abandoned places in the dark

"Form over Function" - Surprises from a graphic designer

"Making of Crackpot Comics" a small filmaker on a budget makes a big "Clerks-style" movie as a series of webisodes. Sounds like a movie in itself? - Likely a sneak preview too.

"Myth to Comic" - Taking the millennium-old Persian Shahnameh myth into modern comic books

"Creating Your Resume on YouTube" this one has to be seen!

And several more...
