How Hongkong movies shaped my life

BY TRAN DUY NGUYEN
@ VOL 10 ON DEC 11, 2016

What makes you who you are today? Is it your family, your friends, what you have done or the places you have been to?

For Trần Duy Nguyễn, the answer lies in the 90s Hong Kong movies. To sit around the TV, watching Hong Kong films being played by a VHS player is the kind of memories many 8x and 9x Vietnamese share. It is common, but also very personal since such movies are the main and almost only form of entertainment there used to be.

Tin's Running Story

BY DUY TÍN
@ VOL 9 ON OCT 01, 2016

"People sometimes sneer at those who run every day, claiming they'll go to any length to live longer. But don't think that's the reason most people run. Most runners run not because they want to live longer, but BECAUSE............" - Murakami - What I Talk About When I Talk About Running.

Tin ran 70km in Sapa in Vietnam Moutain Marathon 2015. There were 156 runners (including 21 Vietnamese) participating in this 70km run. Tin was one of the only 8 Vietnamese who could complete the route. And, last month he accomplished a new record of running 100km around HCMC!

If you are curious how this slim and quiet man could do it, let’s listen to his unbelievable story.
