Locate, architect Maryn Thomas talks us through his projects and gives us an insight into his life as a Manx Architect at Horncastle Thomas.  How his family and his work have influenced the decisions he has made and how different doors opening are progressing his practice connecting the past with contemporary developments that fit the locations. Martin was a mature student on the Art Foundation Course at University College Isla of Man. He is passionate about design on the Isle of Man and is founder member of Sofa the society of architects who delivered Isle of Architecture.

Keird Collective

Keird is Manx for Craft. Liked minded creatives Alice, Quinn, Kim, Grainne, Jenny and Amy came together to form the collective combining their unique skill sets running pop up shops and workshops. The support they give each other shows how this can build friendships and confidence.   Both Alice and Quinn were former students of University College Isle of Man (formerly Isle of Man College) on the Art Foundation and Extended Diploma in Art & Design courses.

Print & Press Studio

A clear example of what you can do to start your own business.  Ben Thornton started his own print company with next to nothing, his enthusiasm, and determination have catapulted his business forwards.  He now has many clients on the Isle of Man and there are strong links to the growing food and drink community on the Island. Ben was a student at University College Isla of Man where he completed the Level 2 Art & Design Course.

Sneaky Weasel

Ealish recently moved back to the Isle of Man with her husband Charles and together they have set up Sneaky Weasel, designers, makers and sign painters, who create all forms of signage, mural and decorative work. Everything is created, built and painted by hand. Ealish completed the Art Foundation Course at UCM (formerly Isle of Man College) and then studied on the Printed Textiles and Surface Pattern Design at Leeds College of Art.  Progressing then on to the MA Fashion Textile Practices at the University of Huddersfield.

Paper Paint Clay & the Isle of Man

Artist Teacher Vici Blackburn takes us through the inspiration for her work and the how this unusual mix of paint, paper and clay are worked together.  Vici has been very busy recently with exhibitions, comissions and participation at drawing events.  So exciting to see a UCM BA Hons Fine Art graduate continue to be excited about making work and sharing this with her students at QEII High School.
