This Week's PechaKucha People spotlight lands on PKN Anchorage’s organizers Kamu Kakizaki and Kir Moore. As one of the newest cities to join the PechaKucha Family, Anchorage has already WOWed us with hosting a very successful First Volume on January 5th at the Anchorage Museum. Kir moved to Alaska from LA, and runs a small design studio working with restaurant and retail start-ups while Kamu is the senior designer for the Anchorage Museum. Kir and Kamu are bringing PechaKucha Night to the Anchorage community in conjunction with the Alaska Design Forum, where they are both board members, committed to the mission of broadening the discussion of design and the built environment in Alaska. Welcome to the New Year and welcome our newest AllStar at PechaKucha HQ in Tokyo, Cristina Marie Deane. While completing her degree at Temple University Japan, Cristina complimented her studies with an internship at PKN Tokyo, (photographed her on her first day!) Proving her invaluable worth in helping us feature all YOUR amazing 20x20 presentations 1 year later, not to mention adding a particularly bubbly air to the office, we just couldn't bear the thought of losing her. Sooo, now that she has graduated, we got her! Congrats on your graduation Cristina, and welcome to the PechaKucha HQ team!

This week we shine the PechaKucha People spotlight on PKN Ellensburg organizer, and executive director at Gallery One Visual Arts Center (where her PKN are hosted), Monica Miller, a champion of her community's talent and creativity. Having worked with arts organizations for over 15 years, Monica is dedicated to ensuring that her gallery is relevant to the community it serves, providing artists opportunities like PechaKucha Nights for networking, inspiration, and for a sustainable arts community! Monica holds a BA from the College of William and Mary and an MA from Johns Hopkins University in Museum Studies. She grew up as a military brat visiting museums around the world, and for a brief stint wanted to be a potter, and now makes ceramics dinosaur fossils with her five-year-old son, plans camping adventures with her artist husband, and rides her bike when time allows! Thanks Monica for your commitment to PechaKucha Nights in Ellensburg!
