Simon Richmond (www.simonrichmond.com) is a UK-based travel writer, photographer and urban sketcher who has specialised in writing about Japan since the early 1990s when he lived and worked in Tokyo for several years as an editor and journalist. He co-authored the first and subsequent four editions of the Rough Guide to Japan which won the Travellex Guidebook of the Year in 2000, as well as the Rough Guide to Tokyo and Rough Guide to Anime. He’s currently a writer on Lonely Planet’s Japan and Tokyo guide and has written for many other guidebook publishers, newspapers, magazines and websites about the country.
