Robert gained a world of experience being trained and skilled in the tradition of 'old school' advertising heroes' like David Ogilvy; letter 'giants' like Gerrit Noordzij, and Illustration 'icons' like Jean Giraud alias Moebius. He got his Master degrees in typography, graphic design, photography and illustration at the Royal Academy for Visual Arts in The Hague, the Netherlands. Robert worked as a creative professional for a huge variety of multi-nationals, governmental organizations, companies and lots of mum-and-pop shops.

Robert branded over a 1000 companies- and organizations. His specialism as city marketing specialist/designer, brought his own Dutch design firm Roberts Creative at top of the game. Whether in the position as art director, creative director, graphic designer, filmmaker, copy writer, iIllustrator or coach.
Together with his colleague-wife-and-muse Titia Jetten, Robert got fame with his successful biker art project The Goddess Project.

It is the crossover of disciplines and his extensive, broad experience that makes Robert an intriguing and effective partner to team up with.

Together with his wife and three teenage Dirk, Felix and Hugo he now runs his family Art label: Balbina Studio Art & Design

Robert's personal motto is "Money can never be an excuse for a bad idea"

In Show Me Your Vision from PechaKucha Night Nanaimo Vol. 4, Designer and Art Director at Balbina Studio, Rob Plante ignites our imaginations with something as simple as a sketch. Trained in typography, graphic design, photography, and illustration at the Royal Academy for Visual Arts in The Hague, the Netherlands, sketching is the cornerstone of his work, having informed everything in his design process throughout a prolific career. Here Having branded thousand companies and organizations as an art director, creative director, graphic designer, filmmaker, copywriter, illustrator, and coach, Robert speaks a language of design that all can understand, especially here in this simple, compelling, and charming presentation about what his city can become through sketches.
