Director Mattie Do's debut, 'Chanthaly,' was the first Lao horror film, and the first Lao film to screen at major film festivals outside of Southeast Asia. She is an alumni of the Cannes Film Festival's World Cinema Factory and the Toronto International Film Festival's Talent Lab. Her second feature 'Dearest Sister' will be release in the fall of 2016.

Mattie Do challenges the conception of ballet as high art and presents the horror film aspects of ballet. Mattie is a classically trained ballet dancer turned filmmaker living in Vientiane, Laos.
