Katy Boychuk

Community Planning Specialist, United Way London & Middlesex in London Canada

Katy Boychuk joined United Way in June 2016 and brings an excellent reputation, experience and passion for community capacity building, community engagement and building relationships when connecting with people and organizations. She has over 6 years’ experience working in the non-profit sector in mental health, arts and culture and newcomer settlement organizations. Katy is an avid volunteer in the community and is most recently known for her contributions as Cabinet Chair (2014-2016) and Volunteer Leadership Chair (2011-2014) of United Way’s GenNext Program.

Her work and volunteer experiences are complimented by a BA in Global Studies from Huron University College, Not-for-Profit Management Diploma from Western University and Project Management Certificate from Fanshawe College. Katy also enjoys playing volleyball and curling, antique and thrift shopping, cooking, travel, and occasionally dabbles in musical theatre.

In honor of International Family Day, we highlight a PechaKucha Presentation that truly embodies what family is, while simultaneous breaks its mold, and in turn, captures our hearts.
 
In "Expression of Gratitude: the untold story of a family unknown" from PechaKucha Night London, Ontario, Katy Boychuk shares the story of her adoption at birth and the personal journey she embarked on when almost most 30 years later, she read her private adoption file for the first time and decided to find her birth mother. This is when her search began.
