journalist, Chicago Tribune
I've PechaKucha'd (yes, it's a verb) once before, and am looking forward to helping host the Oct. 28, 2013, event with photo journalists at the House of Blues. I'm the managing editor and a vice president of the Chicago Tribune. My responsibilities include supervising the news-gathering operation for the newspaper, chicagotribune.com and other digital platforms, and leading the reporters, editors, photographers, designers, artists and producers that make up the Tribune’s 24-hour, digital-first newsroom. Before becoming managing editor, I was founding co-editor and editor of RedEye, the ubiquitous free daily newspaper for young, social, Chicagoans. I graduated in 1989 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. I'm involved in many volunteer roles and boards; most of them focused on mentoring of some sort.
