Emily Jane Conning

4th year Fashion Design Student , Heriot Watt University, School of Textiles and Design in Galashiels United Kingdom

Emily is a 4th year Fashion Design student at Heriot Watt University, School of Textiles in Galashiels. Originally from Oxford and now based in Edinburgh, Emily started a degree in photography at LCC (University Arts London) in 2008 but soon realised she needed a discipline with more variety in its practice. After 5 years getting some life experience in London and Vietnam, she came back to University deciding the variety of areas that fashion design offered from mixed media sketch booking, to conveying concepts, to the technical creativity of pattern cutting and making was something she could really get her teeth into.

Emily won both the Holland & Sherry Prize and the Incorporation of Bonnetmakers and Dyers of Glasgow prize at her 3rd year Degree Show. She is currently working on her Major Collection and hopes to go into academia after finishing her honours.
