You will also discover how a pair of glasses, developed at the University of Liège, may prevent you from falling asleep at the wheel and make an accident. Clementine will explain the story of the project on which she works and which has led to the development of these glasses, from the idea to the process of creating a new company. Her motivation? Jeff is an artist and designer based in Maryland. In 2001 Donaldson began preparing video hardware to intentionally short-circuit. This practice is the foundation for his textile and surface design practice.

Jensin Wallace relates her trip to Slovenia to collaborate with a man suffering from tetraplegia to create custom smart clothing to assist him on a day to day basis - all controlled by his cell phone! Wow!
Jensin was trained as textile textile designer at the Rhode Island School of Design and experimented with how to make sound and emotions tangible. After getting some experience in the luxury fashion industry, she went back to school and received a Masters of Design focusing in fashion and technology. Currently she works as a sweater technical designer for a high end women's label in NYC.

Sha Hwang takes us through the history of .gifs, and their use in society, as an emotive vocabulary for current events, sports, and every day life.
Sha is an information designer and technologist based mostly in Brooklyn. A failed architect and an accidental entrepreneur, Sha has designed and built work for clients such as the New York Times, MTV, Flickr, and Adobe. Previously, Sha worked at Stamen Design and later cofounded the company Movity, which was acquired by Trulia. Sha spends his nights trawling Tumblr and printing gifs as Gifpop and his days working with Nava to improve healthcare.gov and other parts of government.

Linda’s talk is called Signalling Home. It is about the intersection of wireless signals and concepts of home. It looks at examples from technology and art in which the presence of absence of signals construct notions of home. It draws on abstract concepts as well as specific advances in wireless technologies.
Linda is the Chair of Engineering & The Arts in Trinity College Dublin and Director of CONNECT – a national research centre focused on future networks and communications, co-funded by Science Foundation Ireland and industry. Her research interests are in wireless communications, dynamic spectrum management, reconfigurable systems and creative arts practices.

Alexey Dubinsky, a teacher from Dnipropetrovsk Medical Academy, presented in his presentation from PKN Dnipropetrovsk IT::Education his view on the development of education and shared experience in this field. Educational portal DMA was established and is functioning, online counseling and feedback from teachers in Skype and Facebook is being developed for medical students. There is an active digitization of content, useful for gaining knowledge in the medical field, and such systems as Moodle and Digital Health are being mastered. Most valuable assets are people and great attention should be paid to automation in healthcare industry that never stands still. Alexey Dubinsky urged not to throw away old and unwanted computers and transfer them to the needs of the Medical Academy for professional development of future doctors.

Suresh Pillai, Professor of Microbiology, talked about using electrons to help clean, heal, feed and shape the world. Artist Karen Hillier showed work from her series “Unforgotten,” involving artifacts from the daily ablutions of her grandparents. Richard Lester brought a horde of young entrepreneurs who all joined in to share news from the Center for New Ventures and Entrepreneurship, where he serves as Executive Director. Russell Reid, architect and artist, reflected on the process of artmaking from analog to digital and back. Technologist Benedict Nguyen shared the amazing world of 3D scanning and printing. Amateur photographer Glen Vigus led us through the history of photography, and inspired us with 32 years of love and pride in his work, earning his title of amateur. Thanks to Jennifer and Ruthie for organizing and leading the evening! We’ll be back in the summer, and hope you’ll nominate yourself or someone else for next time!
