Bob's Sleigh

BY MARK DYTHAM
@ VOL 142 ON DEC 14, 2016

"Bobsleighs can get up to speeds of 160 kilometers per hour, and going around one of the tight curves, can get up to 5G's just like in a fighter jet!"

PechaKucha co-founder and half of the dynamic duo that makes up Klein Dytham architecture, Mark Dytham delivers his annual holiday season presentation in 20x20 fashion. Past years' topics have included "Snowflake-ology", Un-average Sleighs, Ski-Jumps of the World, "Yuletide Shrubbery" (read: Christmas Trees) and more. This year at PechaKucha Night Tokyo Vol. 142, he takes on "Bob's Sleigh" and the fascinating and little known world of bobsledding, elucidating on the sport's rich history, the technical intricacies of track and sleigh, and some of the sport's best stories. Question Mark: Who's Bob? (Hint: Watch and find out!)

This was "PechaKucha of the Day" on Friday, December 16th, 2016.

Crowded at PKN Tokyo Vol. 79

Big thanks to everyone who made it out last night to our first PechaKucha Night in Tokyo for 2011. Last night's Vol. 79 was the first edition following the holiday break, and it was just amazing to see the crowded scene -- it must have been the most packed event we've had in quite a while. The presentations were of course a blast -- a bit design-heavy, but that's fine -- and you'll be seeing a few pop up soon in the "Presentations" section of the site. The photo above is just a snap I took with my phone for a tweet, and as you can see in the lower right hand corner, I did partake in a delicious glass of Tokyo Ale.
