Kelly Fair, an educator who grew up on the South side, does not share their view. She believes in the goodness of the city. Through her Polished Pebbles project, she shows how girls in Chicago can be inspired to achieve success when given love and opportunity.

Maria is an architect, educator, designer, and community builder in New York City. She is an innovator in ecological design, smart cities, sustainable urban infrastructure, water, transportation, and waste. Maria is a leader in interdisciplinary education focused on future cities.

PKN Posters: Hong Kong Vol. 14

PechaKucha Night Hong Kong Vol. 14 is still about 2 weeks off, but Chinese New Year is fast approaching (Sunday, February 10th)! As 2013 is the Year of the Snake, the poster features a snake enveloping an entire elephant. We suppose this is a good thing? Happy Squares

“So we found out that just dealing with the topic of happiness and thinking about what makes us happy actually made us happy. ” In Happy Squares from PechaKucha Night Goettingen’s 2nd volume, presenter Alexander Schmidt speaks on a topic that is sure to bring a smile to your face. During a project about happiness, Alexander discovered that it takes few to make people happy: Think about happy things and you become happy! Happy Squares are an attempt to actively make people think about their happiness, whilst transforming a public space into an artwork for an afternoon.
