If you ever thought about living in space, then small bathrooms, carbon-dehydrated food, and uncomfortable sleeping arrangements are probably not what you had in mind. However, Nabavi redesigned the experience to have humans at the center of the problem so that it can be an enjoyable and memorable experience for anyone no matter their financial or physical situation.

Connecting the empathy gap

Scott Baker and Ross Curtner are the founders of Adjacent Possibilities. They bring together diverse sectors to creatively showcase solutions to complex problems. In their first iteration in art+energy, they connected artists with cleantech entrepreneurs and curated an exhibition on the human capacity to address climate disruption. Adjacent Possibilities is currently developing future projects on water, climate and cities.

AR is no longer about technology, it’s about living in the real world and creating meaningful experiences that are human-centred. How do we want to live in and with AR, and how will it shape our lives?

Her firm, Terreform ONE, built a sustainable insect shelter on site to conduct extensive research on crickets - studying their growth, social development, and reproductive habits...before harvesting the adults and turning them into tasty treats!

Maria is an architect, educator, designer, and community builder in New York City. She is an innovator in ecological design, smart cities, sustainable urban infrastructure, water, transportation, and waste. Maria is a leader in interdisciplinary education focused on future cities.

Prophet of the Future

Some call him "mischievious," others say he's a prophet, but to us he's Tokyo Genso.  In today's Presentation of the Day, "Prophet of the Future" from PKN Tokyo Vol. 88, the artist known only as Tokyo Genso (a.k.a. Tokyo Fantasy) speaks on his post-apocalyptic illustrations. He goes into detail on the process behind creating these terrifying yet striking images of Tokyo after the human race has all but expired. Tokyo Genso elaborates on his desire to portray the world as it is intended exist: overtaken by the elements.

Textile-Reinforced Concrete: Material of the Future

When you hear the word "concrete" you don't typically think free-flowing fluid or organic structures. ...It's likely you might think of bunkers, gray urbanity, and bleak high-rise structures. However, in "Textile-Reinforced Concrete: Material of the Future" from PKN Maastricht Vol. 20, Kevin Pidun of Lehrstuhl für Plastik shows us that textile-reinforced concrete opens a new universe of surprising uses and forms for this gray material.

Where The Future Will Take You

"I thought I knew what I wanted..." Talking about an emotional journey that brought her to tears, Ira Ali shares with us the ups-and-downs she faced while growing up and the battles she victored over when opportunities kept popping up in her life. In "Where the Future will Take You" from PKN Bandar Seri Begawan Vol. 3,  we see that becoming a graphic designer made her content and happy and she got involved with a charity and volunteer work.
