Kyoto Institute of Technology Naka Lab

Lab Experimentations

The MAP-Aria Lab (for IT application field and research in architecture) was founded in 1988 at the Architecture University of Lyon. The prinicpal topic of this presentation is the use of digital simulations in the fields of architecture, urban design, and landscape architecture. Research subjects are: generative processes as a factor of help for decision making in architecture and urban design, tools and methods for building design and fabrication processes, digital tools for promoting architectural heritage, and finally acquisition, detection, and analysis of natural and built environments. Fab Lab

Living Lab Limburg: Mosae Vita

In Sofubi: Soft Vinyl from PechaKucha Night Special @ Autodesk Pop-Up in TokyoDon Kratzer discusses soft vinyl as a medium, and particularly soft vinyl toys made in Japan. Versatile and vibrant, it has been used for generations as a medium for making toys and figurines that is proven to last. With advancements in digital technology, new opportunities are presented to those who design sofubi figures and collectibles.

The San Francisco of the Future

As if the Bay Area weren't futuristic enough! In today's Presentation of the Day, "The San Francisco of Tomorrow" from PKN San Francisco Vol. 53, architect Craig Scott proposes ideas for putting three of San Francisco's abandoned buildings to new and innovative new uses. Old silos are transformed into a gigantic 3D printer, a decrepit crane is turned into a digital technology innovation lab, and an unused stadium is turned into a greenhouse.
