Legendary musician, producer and DJ A Guy Called Gerald was the honorable surprise act at a special PechaKucha event in Berlin. Briefed by his manager about two hours before the event started (when he woke up), Gerald threw together a colorful mix of images which had history for him. Listening to the stories he told, this was a very relaxing and entertaining presentation that ended the event in perfect harmony.

Fear of a Black Planet
BY TIM HOOVER
@ VOL 9
ON FEB 23, 2012
Tim is a DJ, producer, promoter, and entertainer whose work has both a sense of humor and wonder. Hear him rap through most of his presentation, as he shares his love of music and hip-hop -- something he can't help but want to spread to others.
In a culture where robots are everywhere -- whether as a toy, in an industrial setting, or as a movie villain -- it's good to have someone like DJ Sures, CEO, roboticist, and the visionary behind EZ-Robot. Watch as he shares his passion for robots, particularly the ones that are easy to control. (in English) More to see: http://www.ez-robot.com/default.aspx
Modern Touch DJing
BY LASSE LAURSEN
@ VOL 101
ON MAR 27, 2013
The availability of touch interfaces for DJing has exponentially increased along with the obiquitous influence of smartphones and tablets. But many of these "modern" interfaces stick to applying dated interaction patterns that are unfitting for this new type of interface. In this presentation, Lasse Laursen talks about where he believes the strength of mixing using touch interfaces lie, along with a sneak peak at his own work-in-progress interface.

PKN in Zagreb
PechaKucha Night hit Zagreb for the first time earlier this year, with the Croatian city enjoying a packed crowd of 500 for the inaugural event. Organizer Jelena reports on Vol. 1, and introduces Vol. 2. The PechaKucha Zagreb kick-off was a huge success, turning into one of the major cultural events of January in the Croatian capital. Around 500 people showed up at the Student Center Club that night. The event hosted 10 presenters, some of them very much established Croatian artists, and some of them young and yet to be discovered in different creative fields. They were Ivana Popovic, Rafaela Drazic, Platforma 9.81, Numen, Studio UP, Nicole Hewitt, Vili Matula, Mario Kovac, Ivan Kozaric and Simon Bogojevic Narath, and they all created an amazing atmosphere for, as we would say, the exchange of creative juices. The party with DJ Ahmaad, Dj Rea, and ce60 continued until the late hours… Thanks to Ivan Kozaric’s conceptual interactive performance. This was a great intro for the second PKN Zagreb, to be held next week, April 9, at Tvornica Katran (an old tar factory near the city centre). This time there will be eleven presenters: architect Leo Modrcin, graphic designers Dora Budor and Maja Cule, directing-dramaturgy tandem Anica Tomic and Jelena Kovacic, sculptor Ivan Fijolic, fashion designer Silvio Vujicic, bureau of contemporary art praxis Kontejner, architectural NGO group Archisquad, comic drawer and illustrator Goran Sudzuka, product designer Marko Pavlovic, transitive-fiction theatre TRAFIK, and Complaints Choir Zagreb. The PKN party will include DJ Lamiralio, with visuals by ce60 (groodanje); the space is provided by Shockshow industry, the technique sponsor is AVC, and the design is by Budor+Cule (photo: Damir Zizic). So mark your calendars for next week's PKN Zagreb Vol. 2. Below, a look at some of the press received for Vol. 1, as well as a video report. httpvh://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LweJHV6khAA
PKN Malmö's Rikard Jonsson
Rikard Jonsson is a DJ and artist, and he also happens to be one of the organizers behind PechaKucha Night in Malmö. He was recently in Gothenburg to give a presentation at that city's PKN, and stayed at the CREATORS INN by Elvine, where he gave this interview.
PKN Honolulu Mix
DJ Eskae created a special mix for the recent PechaKucha Night in Honolulu Vol. 7, and he's currently letting everyone download it. Get it soon, as it will only be available for a limited time.
Poster for PKN Washington Vol. 13
Washington's PechaKucha Night Vol. 13 is takes place next week (September 15), in conjunction with the AIA DC Architecture Week. The event will include a musical performance by David Schulman of Rhapsody B, and DJ Brien Watson, and you'll find the full list of presenters with links on the official event page. Note that -- and something we encourage all PKN organizers to do -- one of the presentations from the PK site will be shown during the evening, in this case Gary Cheng's "Transformer Apartment."
PKN Gothenburg's Piano Break
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dj3d9_EeFPk At its latest PechaKucha Night -- Vol. 28, held a few days ago -- Gothenburg invited pianist Bruno Bran to play at the event during the breaks, instead of a DJ. As organizer Jesper Larsson says, "I must say it was great for the atmosphere and perhaps something to spread and recommend to other PKN organizers." The video gives you a taste of Bran's playing, and we love seeing the reflection of our PechaKucha city loop on the piano.
Pecha Kucha Vol.16
Architecture, Graphic design, Illustration, Music, Literature, Eco-Design and travelling, there will be a lot to watch this coming Friday at our Pecha Kucha Night edition in Lisbon. It is a promising edition full of surprises and very exciting presentations. Also, 2013 it's here & we are in a party mood so to celebrate a new partnership with Teatro do Bairro, we'll be having an After Party with a DJ set of Irmão Lúcia, one of our speakers. The poster was designed by hello stranger, who will also be there. You can't miss this one!
Photos by A Guy Called Gerald
The nomadic life of a musician is one of countless stories. The legendary English musician/DJ/producer presenting in this edition of Presentation of the Day (from PKN Berlin) is none other than A Guy Called Gerald. He discusses 20 photographs that are particularly inspiring or reminiscent for him; these include hypnoitising images of fire, shots of sunrises and sunsets from all over the world, analogue sound machines, times of strife and times of dreams, as well as an old photo from the 1960s of his mother. Hear him tell a new story with each photo introduced -- in a stream of consciousness fashion.

VJ DJ Communication
VJs and DJs don't talk. Or at least, they don't communicate nearly enough. Lasse Laursen works hard for the money as a VJ/DJ relationship counselor -- well, kind of -- he develops audio interfaces for VJs and DJs in hopes to dramatically increase merriment levels for the crowd. In today's Presentation of the Day, "VJ DJ Communication" from PKN Tokyo Vol. 105, Lasse reviews his previous presentation on touch interfaces, and highlights his amazing research meant to benefit future partygoers the world over.
