@ VOL 109
ON DEC 04, 2013
Natalie Cernecka, from Latvia, was trying to find a graphic designer in Tokyo. While searching, she found a small Latvian shop in Nakameguro and went to talk to the owner. She was so enthralled by the story she heard that she wanted to share it with the world via PechaKucha. While at a PechaKucha event, she met another Latvian. Through her new Latvian friend, she found a graphic designer from Ecuador who was able to help her.
Talking to Yourself
BY RAY FENWICK
@ VOL 16
ON DEC 05, 2013
Artist-of-all-sorts Ray Fenwick speaks to a crowd and to you (if you listen) about talking to one's self. He points out the fact that our voice is a huge part of our identity, but in many cases we don't acknowledge that it is the embodiment of our thoughts while still remaining a function of our body. Because our voice is at the crossroads of our psychological and physiological being, it can be surreal and disconcerting to practice, but Ray encourages us all to see what comes out!

The 'Dear Hunter' are architects, but they are different from any other architect office. They're not striving for buildings: they're after the experience of people like you and me, regarding our surroundings. Their philosophy is based on techniques of the hunt.
Hunting transforms all our senses and makes us extremely aware of our surroundings. Through various hunting techniques they don’t hunt deer, but the dearest thing to man: subjective values within the human environment, personals spatial experiences and perception. They gather this information to use it in the fields of architecture, design and urban planning.
Retrofront – Dietro la Politica, una Pagina da Scrivere
BY DEWREC (/DJU:REK/)
@ VOL 10
ON OCT 31, 2014
Retrofront is an up-cycling paper project that turns the huge electoral and advertising posters overproduction into block-notes. Based in Turin, retrofront was created by a interdisciplinary team, coming from Dewrec. Handmade at first, collecting papers from local partys' headquarters, today retrofront drives a net of salvage in Piedmont and mechanizes the production in order to spread the salvage of paper and sale as much as possible. Capitalism wastes sources and destroys the environment, but we are convinced that we can fill its wholes with our intelligence and creativity, saving time and energy, giving back space and jobs. In the next few months, retrofront will diversify, realizing block-notes of different dimensions and different looks. The whole supply and production chain follows social and environmental sustainability criteria, indeed.

DesignBoom: PechaKucha.org Now Hosts Over 1000 Presentations
Just over 6 months ago the grand overhaul to PechaKucha.org went public, and we've been receiving presentations from PechaKucha Nights in cities the world over. About one week ago we hit a landmark (the first of many to come!): one thousand (1000) PechaKucha 20x20 presentations online. While this number is only a small fraction of the presentations that the PechaKucha Night attendees have seen in our now 660 cities worldwide, we're positively elated. DesignBoom has featured this milestone on their blog, so feel free to check out the full post here.
Causes and Effects
In today's "Presentation of the Day" -- "Causes and Effects" -- designer Robert L. Peters uses various examples of design used to pass on a message or critique a particular world problem, using it as a call to arms, inviting everyone to choose their cause and do something about it. It was recorded at PKN Winnipeg Vol. 7.
Design Diversity - Powered by PechaKucha
We hope that you were able to make it out to PechaKucha Night Cleveland - Volume 21, which took place last Friday evening at the citadel of free speech, The City Club of Cleveland. It was a yet another truly magical evening here in Cleveland listening to amazing, creative and inspiring stories. As many have noticed, space was fairly limited at about 450 people, and we needed to distribute tickets via our Facebook page(still FREE:) to make sure we did not take the venue beyond their capacity. If you were not able to make it out, have no fear, we video taped the entire evening and are planning on posting those presentations as soon as we can process them. A special thanks goes out to Dan Moulthrop, Carrie Miller and everyone at The City Club of Cleveland for making that such an amazing partnership and evening. We are looking forward to partnering with them on many events in the future. Also, if you did not have a chance to make it out, or you did and just can't get enough inspiration, you have another opportunity TONIGHT to be inspired. The event titled "DesignDiversity - Powered by PechaKucha" takes place at Take 5 in downtown Cleveland. The event doors open with a Happy Hour from 7-8pm and the presentations will start at 8pm. We are going to be working hard throughout 2014 to not only bring you GREAT PechaKucha Night events, but we are going to be aggressively working with various organizations to fill the calendar with Powered by PechaKucha opportunities in between. What is "Powered by PechaKucha" you ask? Powered X PKN events are one-off events that are separate from regular city-based PechaKucha Nights, but still utilize the 20 images x 20 seconds format. The events will be completely organized by other organizations and oftentimes have very different focuses, but PKNCLE is going to do what it can to support each event it can to help everyone tell their creative stories. If you are interested in hosting a "Powered by PechaKucha" event, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will definitely reach out to talk about the process. PechaKucha Guatemala Vol. 04
