“通过设计触摸未来”是一个较为新颖的观点。魏明认为设计未来是他的一大使命,而科技代表未来,因此在他的设计中可以看到科技的踪影。“现代人离不开通讯工具,从最初的BB机演变成今天的触屏手机,未来是否存在3D的手机?” 这款基于“未来”和“科技”理念设计的手机为他赢得了红点设计奖。

Most recently he was nominated for best writing at the Game Developers Choice Awards for his work on the game Saints Row: The Third. Naturally, he lost to Portal 2. In this presentation (from PKN Champaign-Urbana Vol. 9), Steve shares some of his guilty pleasures. Akio Aoki (Miru) covers (in Japanese, from PKN Tokyo Vol. 93) a few of his projects and products, and also shares some of the exhibitions that have featured his work. Posters We kick off the week with a few new posters on our Tumblr blog. Covered are the following events: PKN Halifax Vol. 11, PKN Memphis Vol. 3, PKN London Vol. 8, and PKN Shenzhen Vol. 11, pictured above.  Photos and video We have one new gallery of photos [Facebook] to share with you today, from last week's PKN Amsterdam Vol. 22. Pictured above, a look at the warehouse-like venue. When we approve a new PKN series, we ask the new organizer (or team) to send us a greeting video (PK founders Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham do the same for the city's first event). Here's the wonderful video from the organizers of PKN Osijek. Links Today's links include a few tips on making a PechaKucha presentation, and some nice coverage of Tulsa's recent first PKN."PechaKucha for professional presentations - Do's and Don'ts" [Where Next]"PechaKucha Night at Living Arts of Tulsa celebrates creativity" [Tulsa World]Calendar It's going to be a slow week -- summer has officially hit -- but don't let that stop you from catching the events that are being held, like tonight's (July 17) PKN Jacksonville Vol. 20.

In this presentation (from PKN Dubai Vol. 11), Tarik will be sharing with us the journey in realizing architectural programs, focusing on their recent project 'DXB Store'.  Kyoko and Hannah Waldron come together to present (in Japanese, with some English, from PKN Tokyo Vol. 94) some of the furoshiki designs produced under the LINK collective. We also get a glimpse at how these traditional items are made. Posters We have one new poster on the Tumblr blog today, and it's for a special edition PKN Trnava, which is set to take place on August 10 (a regular Vol. 5 is set for September). And although we already shared the poster for the recent PKN Shenzhen Vol. 11, here's a photo of it out in the wild: Videos Here's a short video look at a recent PKN in Guatemala City -- it was the first PKN to be held in that city.  httpv:// Calendar We're looking at another slow summer week, and start off with no PKNs on this Monday night, but tomorrow (July 31) will see PKN Dnipropetrovsk Vol. 2.

Unconventional Formwork, What a Creative Director Does, and a Video from Barcelona

Presentations Daniel Silverman is an architect, and in his presentation (from PKN Shenzhen Vol. 11) he shares a few projects that use unconventional materials for the formwork aspect of construction. Mad Men are dead. Creative directors do not just get to go to parties nowadays, but as is revealed in this presentation (in Spanish, from PKN Barcelona Vol. 14) by Rafa Bonichon, they have to be able to distinguish between what is bullshit and what is a good idea. Posters Our last addition to the Tumblr blog before the weekend is the poster you see above, for Sao Paulo's Vol. 11, which is happening tonight. It was illustrated by João Lavieri, who will also be a presenter at the event.
