Frida Ersson is a recently-graduated student from Malmsten's college - one of the finest schools of cabinetmaking in the world. Her projects have entailed a fair degree of traveling, which serves as a way of lifitng inspiration for her work. Each trip taken would result in a plethora of found objects that would later see themselves incorporated into her final project; a glorious investment of time to create a stunning piece of craftsmanship - her desk. La Subtile is the meeting of four complementary interests with one shared ambition and infinite energy, uniting their collective goal of taking an active part in the world of today and tomorrow and of living intensely.

La Subtile choreographs contemporary objects that come to fruition in the brand's creative inspiration and specific interests. La Subtile is helping to reinvent industrial creativity with a French style by stimulating the local economic dynamism. It's a Little Bit Weird...

In this edition of Presentation of the Day (from PKN Tokyo Vol. 66, during Tokyo Design Week 2009) British designer Anthony Dickens muses about the various anomalies that lead him down the path to inspiration.  Anthony has been running his London-based product and furniture design studio for nearly 15 years now. His firm's modus operandi is to re-think everyday established forms, and renew them for use within our present day lives.

Heroes of Wood, Glass, Steel

In today's Presentation of the Day, "Heroes of Wood, Glass, Steel" from the Global Night edition of PKN Tokyo (Vol. 106), Keiji Ashizawa shows off some of his amazing work with steel and aluminum, as well as the lighting, wood, and glasswork of those he collaborates with. Keiji discusses his metalworking career, his group of industrious glass and wood-working friends, and the structures and furniture he built for those in the tsunami-affected area of Ishinomaki, Japan.

A Big PKN in Stockholm

No Frustration, Just Creation

Join Viva Brighton's Alex Leith and artist Zara Wood a.k.a Woody at Yellowave, Madeira Drive, on Thursday 3rd September. Doors open 6.30pm with the talks running, with a break, between 7pm - 9pm. PechaKucha People: Ewa Kumlin

There couldn't a more deserving person of the PechaKucha People spotlight than our trendsetting, globe-trotting, super star organizer in Stockholm, Ewa Kumlin. In addition to a very long list of accomplishments and an unwavering commitment to creativity and communities, she holds the managing director position at Svensk Form, Swedish Society of Design. She's also hosting PechaKucha Global Headquarter members this week in Sweden for a summit of PechaKucha City Organizers coinciding with Stockholm Furniture Fair.
