Walk On By

PRESENTED ON JUN 16, 2012
IN WILLIAMSBURG @ VOL 1

In this presentation by Brad O'Hara, we are reminded that there is another side to life, looking beyond "the big picture." Brad challenges us to slow down and pay attention to the small objects, textures, and moments in our lives. He does this through a series of images that were all taken within 4 minutes of his own home. (in English)

A Walk Through PechaKuched Koszalin

BY GALL PODLASZEWSKI
@ VOL 8 ON FEB 22, 2012

This presentation is by PKN Koszalin organizer Gall, and was done as part of our Global Cities Week. Here's how Gall describes it: "In my presentation I took the spectators for a walk through the well known places of the city, whose perception, though, has been modified in recent years through some young creatives. Windsurfing or bathing in the winter sea? (1-2) This is the kind of shock-feeling PechaKucha once brought to our small town. (3) Let's transform the industrial zone into a zone of culture! (4) Let's transform the 4-lanes main street into a livable public space! (7-8) Let's sweep the rubble and create meeting places! (9) Let's take over the monuments and enjoy them as people instead as politicians! (14-15) And in the last few steps, let's check out what's new in the local architecture! (17-20) On the slides 12-13 you can see the Koszalin's amphitheatre, the biggest venue in the city, which will host PKN Koszalin Vol. 9!" (in Polish)

CoWork Williamsburg

BY NATALIE MILLER-MOORE
@ VOL 7 ON MAY 24, 2014

CoWorking is becoming popular in larger urban centers as people are shifting to telecommuting models and entrepeneurship is on the rise. As a self employed journalist in Williamsburg, Natalie Miller-Moore sees the need for it in our less-than-urban small city. So she has helped found CoWork Williamsburg and is here to compare and contrast the pitfalls of working from home or a coffee shop with the benefits of a cowork space. Because, afterall, a coffee shop is not a productive place to work.
