Performing Abstract Systems

Chris Kondek, born in Boston in 1962, began working as a video designer in 1990 with the New York theatre company The Wooster Group. In 1995 he worked with Laurie Anderson on her multimedia concertThe Nerve Bible and again in 1998 on her opera Songs and Stories from Moby Dick. In 1999 he moved to Berlin where he began working with the choreographer Meg Stuart and the theatre Director Stefan Pucher. He has also created videos for Armin Petras, Wanda Golonka, Hans-­Werner Kroesinger, René Pollesch, Michael Nyman, The Builders’ Assosciation, Rimini Protokoll and others, as well as for opera productions by Sebastian Baumgarten, Jossi Wieler, and Falk Richter in Bayreuth and Salzburg. In 2008, Chris Kondek received the OPUS prize for his video work as well as the FAUST Theater prize in 2012. Since 2004 Chris Kondek has been developing his own theatre works, including Loan Shark (2008), about the finance crisis, at the HAU in Berlin, and Please Kill 2011, (2012) also at HAU. Together with Christiane Kühl he has created seven other works.

Christiane Kühl, born in Kiel in 1966, studied contemporary Literature, Philosophy, and Spanish at the University of Hamburg. She was culture editor of the daily newspaper TAZ (Hamburg and Berlin), of the magazine The KulturSPIEGEL (Hamburg) and on- air editor at Radio Eins/RBB (Potsdam). She’s worked as a freelance journalist for various other outlets, including Zitty Magazine, Die Zeit, F.A.S., DU, as well as editing the magazine “Herbst. Theorie zur Praxis”, for the festival of international contemporary art, Steirischer Herbst (Austria). From 2011 to 2013 she was Assistant Artistic Director for the Berliner Festspiele. She has been invited to be a jury member for the Hauptstadtkulturfonds Berlin, The International Theater Festival Hamburg, Kontakt Torin (PL), the Heidelberger Stückemarkt and the Doppelpass project/Kulturstiftung des Bundes. Alongside her journalistic activities she has, since 2004, worked as an author, dramaturg and performer with Chris Kondek.

Andre van den Bor besloot doordeweek zichtbaar en aanspreeksbaar te zijn als dominee. Door een boordje te dragen dat wereldwijd herkenbaarheid oplevert. Verbazing en verrassing vallen hem ten deel.

Behalve op maandag; dan gaan de boordjes in de was en gaat hij incognito over straat.

As a kid, she spent most of her time at her family’s letterpress shop—an ancient dusty dreamatorium where an imagination can wild.
