Naama Zahavi-Ely was not aware she had an artist inside. Fortunately a friend put a brush in her hand and said, "Why don't you give it a try." Naama quickly realized she not only loved painting, but had an affinity for explorations in color.

Sandra invites the audience, at the conclusion of her presentation, to focus on her eyes and remain so. There is a palpable silence in the room. We remain fixed.  This demonstration of  how to connect deeply with another resonates with the belief that Sandra holds, “magic happens simply through holding space for each other and allowing ourselves to connect deeply”. NamChai Community Center Vientiane, founded by Sandra, is such a space.

Family Boatbuilding, Getting Kids on the Water with Their Own Hands

Tom Hurst has been a woodworking and natural resources teacher for a good long while. He has built and guided the creation of many items of furniture, art pieces, toys, buildings and of course boats. He has built sailboats, canoes and sea kayaks with audiences from children to seniors both locally and around the US. Over 100 canoes and kayaks grace our local waters that were built in his shops. Family boatbuilding is still his favorite. It is a project to draw together people and get them on the water. A natural teacher with a love of sharing the outdoors and practical skills, He has a passion for hands-on experiential education.
