VOL 7

June 07, 2016
@ Grand Stafford Theater

Join us at 7pm on Tuesday, June 7, at Grand Stafford Theater in Downtown Bryan for our seventh PechaKucha Bryan event, Sparks. We will be hearing presentations from a wide variety of people with very different vocations.

Janet Vincent- aka Jammit Janet- will give us a peek into the awesome world that is roller derby.

Joe Hartsoe, a disability activist will be discussing impact of stigma surrounding mental health in our culture. Joe will help us explore the mind of an individual with a disability and gain one perspective about what mental health is, how it impacts individuals, and why shame surrounding mental health exists in our community.

Artist Dmitri Koustov will talk about creating paintings, sculptures, murals, and stained glass projects with rich texture and intense color relationships.

We will also hear from food expert Gigi Greene and political scientist Dr. Bill Clark.

We look forward to seeing you!

Just Roll with It...

BY JANET VINCENT
@ VOL 7 ON JUN 07, 2016

“I think something that attracts a lot of people to roller derby is the culture of it all, like you can create a whole new persona identity.”

In Just Roll with it from PechaKucha Night Bryan Vol. 7, Roller Girl, “Jammin” Janet Vincent talks about her love of roller derby in this presentation. She was really shy when she moved from Costa Rica to US for college. Then her family members encouraged her to join the roller derby team, and she found out her passion of roller derby. Now she is attending the roller derby competitions around the world with her teammates.

This was "PechaKucha of the Day" on Thursday, June 30th, 2016.
