PechaKucha Night Christchurch volume 26 was be set amongst the giant spray cans of the Spectrum Street Art Festival. Attendees had a chance to see the whole exhibition while enjoying a drink and catching up with some of Christchurch's most interesting and creative people.

We mentioned this was a special event for us, and we are very excited that two of our organizers will soon be heading over to Tokyo, for the PechaKucha Organiser's World Summit. 3 days of workshops and strategic planning with organisers around the world, all working towards the common goal, of spreading the PechaKucha, quick fire spirit around the world. This non- profit, volunteer run, grassroots event is now happening in 800 cities around the world! We want to show everyone,how Christchurch does it, and learn exciting new ideas to bring home to you all.

What have we got to share? Well, here is a snapshot of PechaKucha Night in Christchurch: 
*2-3 PechaKuchas from each event make it to PechaKucha of the day, circulated globally through social media 
*2 top PechaKuchas of 2014 
*PechaKucha Night Christchurch featured City of the week 
*Organiser Netta Egoz featured in PechaKucha People 
*Active member of global community including contributing to Global fund

$3 from every ticket sold will go towards our fundraising to help towards conference costs. $1 from every ticket will go to the PechaKucha Global Fund, to help the organisation continue running across the globe. Every other cent covers the hire and design costs of the event.

Telling the Story of 30 million People in a Sinking Country

Journalist come entrepreneur and long time climate change advocate Adrien Taylor tells the story of how he took a leap of faith that led him to Bangladesh with a climate scientist and a few amateur documentary makers, to film a country that bears the highest burden of displacement due to climate change. The documentary 30 Million is out later this year.

Prolific professional grafitti artist Wongi remembers the walls that were. Large scale murals that once were sprawled on walls across Chrstchurch, now covered up by either paint, new buildings, or often demolished since the earthquakes. Wongi immortilises them through his documentation, and shares a few anecdotes about how they came to be..

Who You Know and How you are Known

PechaKucha Night Christchurch organiser Netta Egoz experiences life on the other side of the microphone. As a lawyer, she is not used to having to get her hands dirty! Through her own DIY renovation project, she learns how naivety is the key ingredient to starting any ambitious project, and how she uncovered layers of history from her house as well as finding useful ways to reuse things they removed.
