Working on page

Right now Im editing and adding information about the events in xalapa.

PKN Tokyo Vol. 95 Presentations In her presentation (from PKN Tokyo Vol. 95), artist Yuko Hishiyama shares the striking work she's been producing, mostly in the form of sculptures made of aluminum mesh. The resulting "people" she creates have not only starred in their own shows, but have also been made to interact with other famous pieces. Ixchel Lechuga's presentation (in Spanish, from PKN Xalapa Vol. 8) is all about why the city center can and should produce agriculture products. She makes her point by highlighting some of the advantages that can be felt by both the countryside and the city. PKN Istanbul Vol. 15 Posters We have two new additions to the Tumblr blog today, one for PKN Ornskoldsvik Vol. 2 and one for PKN Istanbul Vol. 15, pictured above. Below, more details on the Istanbul event.

PechaKucha Night İstanbul Vol. 15 Special Edition will take place at The Building Information Centre (YEM) on October 17th. This PechaKucha Night will be organised within the "Dutch-Turkish Connecting Creativity" program during the opening week of the Istanbul Design Biennale titled "Imperfection." "Oh God! Please Give Me A Makeover!" As all the efforts on urban transformation/regeneration/revitalisation go on, what are we transforming into as citizens? Has new urbanism regenerated the way we are and the way we behave? Are we really getting revitalized? What is the new URBANITAS? Architects, designers and fashion designers from Turkey and the Netherlands will present their cases around the theme of "Urban Transformation."

PKN Kyiv Vol. 5 Photos The photo above is from this photo gallery [Picasa] for last July's PKN Kyiv Vol. 8. Here's also a report on the event (Google translated). Calendar The three events happening tonight are PKN Aalborg Vol. 9, PKN Norrkoping Vol. 19, and PKN Malaga Vol. 3. Tomorrow marks Szczecin's first PKN, along with PKN Bilbao Vol. 13.

PKN Toronto Vol. 16 Presentations It's with great joy that we can say that, with the inclusion today of a presentation from the city of Xalapa, we now have presentations representing 100 different cities on the PechaKucha website -- and we're only a few presentations away from reaching a global count of 500 online presentations. It's always been our goal to share the widest variety of presentations as possible -- and in as many languages and regions as possible -- and it feels like it's something we're achieving day by day. And it won't stop until we manage to get presentations online from every single PechaKucha Night city! Mark Staplehurst is a web designer and developer from England, and in his presentation (from PKN Toronto Vol. 16) he talks about the history of British accents. You'll soon realize how Englishmen are all "branded by the tongue." What can you tell about Mark from his accent? In this presentation (in Spanish, from PKN Xalapa Vol. 8), Álvaro Itzamá takes us on a tour of various book projects he's worked on, each quite different from the other. PKN Bozeman Vol. 4 Posters There's just one addition to the Tumblr blog today, and it takes the form of the poster for the upcoming PKN Bozeman Vol. 4 (on September 12), pictured above -- you'll find more details, including the full list of presenters, on the official event page. Calendar Here are the two events you can catch tonight (September 5): PKN Roanoke Vol. 3 and PKN Trnava Vol. 5. Tomorrow, it's another big Thursday with the following: PKN Barnsley Vol. 5, PKN Dunedin Vol. 15, PKN Svendborg Vol. 2, PKN Singapore Vol. 5, PKN Santiago Vol. 3, and PKN Budapest Vol. 28.

The Olympic Games in Derbyshire, Retail Design, and an Update from Chicago

PKN Shenzhen Vol. 11 Presentations Rory Slater's presentation (from PKN Derby Vol. 6) reveals what role the county of Derbyshire played in this year's Olympic Games. Cheng Fengqi is a visual designer, and in his presentation (in Chinese, from PKN Shenzhen Vol. 11) he shows how to arrange retail shops in order to provide a joyful shopping environment for the customer. PKN Chicago Vol. 23 Posters Today's additions to the Tumblr blog start with the poster you see above for next month's PKN Chicago Vol. 23, designed by Firebelly's Nick Adam -- let us also point you to this fun timelapse video that shows last week's special edition PKN held at the Art Institute of Chicago. Other posters added today include: PKN Buenos Aires Vol. 26, PKN Williamsburg Vol. 2, PKN Xalapa Vol. 12, and PKN Nashville Vol. 8. PKN Concepcion Vol. 8 PKN Concepcion Vol. 8 Photos Today we have a photo gallery [Flickr] for PKN Concepcion Vol. 8 to share, with a few photos to give you a taste of what the event was like. A Modernist Graphic Designer on Kawaii, Utopian Plans for Moscow, and Last Night in Tokyo

Craig Yamashita Presentations The cute -- kawaii -- culture that was perfected in Japan has now proliferated on a global scale. Why? This modernist graphic designer (aka Craig Yamashita) laments the reasons (from PKN Tokyo Vol. 92). Artyom Ukropov is an architect at Megabudka Bureau, and in this presentation (in Russian, from PKN Moscow Vol. 18) he shares his utopian plans -- all based on real data and statistics -- on how to solve all of the problems of modern Russia. His solution involves moving all of the population to the territory that surrounds the Moscow region. PKN Xalapa Vol. 10 Posters Today's new crop of posters on our Tumblr blog includes PKN Tallinn Vol. 4 (which happens tomorrow night), PKN Bangor Vol. 5 (also happening tomorrow night), PKN Plzen Vol. 1 (happening tonight), and PKN Xalapa Vol. 10 (happening tonight, and pictured above).  PKN Tokyo Vol. 92 PKN Tokyo Vol. 92 PKN Tokyo Vol. 92 Photos The photos we have to share today are all pictured above, and were taken last night at PKN Tokyo Vol. 92 by our resident photographer, Michael Holmes. Poster for PKN Xalapa Vol. 9

Tonight (March 1) is actually a pretty big night for PechaKucha Nights, with quite a few cities having events, and Xalapa is one of them. The city's PKN Vol. 9 will take place at La Otra.

Poster for PKN Xalapa Vol. 8 PechaKucha Night in Xalapa Vol. 8 is coming up, set to happen on October 20 at Pizzeria Giovanni. The skull on the poster is a nod to the upcoming Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead).

Poster for PKN Xalapa Vol. 7 The next PechaKucha Night in Xalapa (Vol. 7) is just a few days away, happening this Thursday (August 18) at Giovanni Pizzeria. As the poster suggests, it's like sweet ice cream for the brain.

PKN Xalapa + Inspire Japan Xalapa will take part in the Global PechaKucha Day - Inspire Japan event on April 16, and you'll find details for the event on the poster above. Organizer Ivan Mejia also tells us that he'll be streaming the event, so look to the Inspire Japan site on that day to find Xalapa and many other cities streaming their local events.

Poster for PKN Xalapa Vol. 5 We're just a week away from PechaKucha Night in Xalapa Vol. 5, to be held March 17 at Lekki. You'll find the full list of presenters with links on the official event page.
