Architecture in the U.A.E. and a Modern Take on the Traditional Furoshiki
Presentations Anarchitect[s] is a collaboration between Jonathan Ashmore and Tarik Al Zaharna. This concept creates a platform for a collaboration between architecture and research projects in the U.A.E. In this presentation (from PKN Dubai Vol. 11), Tarik will be sharing with us the journey in realizing architectural programs, focusing on their recent project 'DXB Store'. Kyoko and Hannah Waldron come together to present (in Japanese, with some English, from PKN Tokyo Vol. 94) some of the furoshiki designs produced under the LINK collective. We also get a glimpse at how these traditional items are made. Posters We have one new poster on the Tumblr blog today, and it's for a special edition PKN Trnava, which is set to take place on August 10 (a regular Vol. 5 is set for September). And although we already shared the poster for the recent PKN Shenzhen Vol. 11, here's a photo of it out in the wild: Videos Here's a short video look at a recent PKN in Guatemala City -- it was the first PKN to be held in that city. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYZHqV350iE Calendar We're looking at another slow summer week, and start off with no PKNs on this Monday night, but tomorrow (July 31) will see PKN Dnipropetrovsk Vol. 2.

Presentations Tim Hoover is a DJ, producer, promoter, and entertainer whose work has both a sense of humor and wonder. Hear him rap through most of his presentation (from PKN Winnipeg Vol. 9), as he shares his love of music and hip-hop -- something he can't help but want to spread to others. (in English) Ben van der Steen is CEO of Geesa, a Dutch company that has produced bathroom and toilet products since 1885, and in this presentation (in Dutch, from PKN Amersfoort Vol. 6) he tells the story of how he joined the company. A passion for design is what drives Ben, and his journey lead to a line of products by Dutch design superstar Marcel Wanders. Posters We've got some terrific new posters on the Tumblr blog today, with the following events represented: PKN Warsaw Vol. 11, PKN Hong Kong Vol. 12, PKN Cagliari Vol. 3, and PKN Chicago Vol. 22 (pictured above). Photos Again, we have a few photo galleries to share -- note that you'll also find quite a few photosets on our Flickr account, which are also divided in collections.
