MCASD Downtown, Jacobs Building

 

The public is welcome to this celebratory reopening of the renovated North Plaza and One America Plaza, directly across the street from MCASD’s downtown location.

This free event will feature music and dance performances, exhibition tours, art-making activities, silent discos powered by Silent Storm, artist workshops and more to encourage the community to “take back” this public space as a communal locale for gathering and creating.

On Saturday evening will be the first-ever binational PechaKucha Night Tijuana-San Diego Vol. 1

Art and Public Engagement between Tijuana and San Diego

This PKN is possible thanks to the collaboration between Tijuana, Mexico’s Agentes del Arte Contemporáneo (PKN TJ, Mx), San Diego Architectural Foundation (PKN SD, US) and the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego.

Free parking will also be provided to Public2 attendees in One America Plaza.

About the City's Organizers

  • Illya Haro

    As a cultural agent she has been acting as liaison between public, artists-cultural projects and institutions creating modes of visual communication using tools such as: museology, museography and curatorial practice allowing the development and implementation of integral strategies within the social fabric using contemporary art as a tool to awaken the sensibility with projects that impact the community. Recently she founded and directs the Laboratory of Contemporary Art Agents in the area of Tijuana-San Diego concerned with projects that have as the common denominator critical thought and dialogue concerning artistic and cultural practice.
