He shows how the original balance between the government, worker’s unions, and companies has become distorted over the years, and finishes by looking at modern balances for corporate power, and how to remain socially aware while investing.

PKN Posters: Taos Vol. 10
Just now finishing up at Taos Mesa Brewing is a special "Food Edition" of PechaKucha Night Taos (Vol. 10). The day included an exclusive locally-grown dinner buffet of the presenters products, produce, and meats!
The creativity and variety of events put together by PechaKucha organizers never ceases to impress (and in this case, make our collective stomachs growl).
To see more great posters from PechaKucha Nights all over the world, check out our Tumblr blog.

The Role of the Military Chaplain, an Artist Explores Creativity, and Photos from Castellon de la Plana
Presentations Erin Riley was curious about the role of military chaplains, and so she set out to find the stories behind these people. Her presentation (from PKN Toronto Vol. 15) reveals the results of her interviews and photographs. Tyler Weiss follows up his "Thoughtless Experiment" (from PKN Williamsburg Vol. 1) with an exploration (from PKN Williamsburg Vol. 2) of what creativity means to his artwork. Posters We end the week with two additions to the Tumblr blog, starting with what you see pictured above, for PKN Moncton Vol. 8, part of the International Festival for French Cinema in Acadia (FICFA). The other new poster is for last night's PKN Taos Vol. 8. Photos Here's a photo gallery [Flickr] for PKN Castellon de la Plana Vol. 2, which was held just over a week ago. You'll find the full list of presenters with links on the official event page. Calendar The weekend starts with the following events tonight (November 9): PKN Shanghai Vol. 20, PKN Oulu Vol. 19, PKN Las Palmas Vol. 8, PKN San Luis Obispo Vol. 18, and PKN Honolulu Vol. 16. On Saturday you'll find PKN Williamsburg Vol. 3, PKN Auckland Vol. 32, and PKN Olsztyn Vol. 1, and then PKN Azores Vol. 4 on Sunday.
JULY 24, 2012
Presentations In this presentation (from PKN Genoa Vol. 1), Gregory Melitonov talks about his SOTTO project, that incorporates typical Italian laundry lines and t-shirts to send a message to the community at large. The Bike Kitchen is more than just a self-help bike garage where you can bring your bike and learn how to repair it yourself. As you'll learn in this presentation (in German, from PKN Augsburg Vol. 1) by Stefan Sohnle, the Bike Kitchen is in fact just like a family. Posters We've just added quite a few posters to the Tumblr blog, and so today instead of just highlighting one, we'll include a few of them in our daily post. First up, above, is the poster for tonight's PKN Rockford Vol. 2. Also uploaded today are the following (some of which you'll find below): PKN Oaxaca Vol. 2 and Vol. 7, PKN Cancun Vol. 1, PKN Panama Vol. 3, PKN Wakefield Vol. 2 and Vol. 4, PKN Barcelona Vol. 12, PKN Dnipropetrovsk Vol. 2, and PKN Taos Vol. 2. Calendar There are two events on tap for tonight (July 24): PKN Halifax Vol. 11 and the previously mentioned PKN Rockford Vol. 2. Tomorrow is a busy night, and on top of our PKN Tokyo Vol. 94 (our last PKN of the summer), you can look for the following events: PKN Derby Vol. 6, PKN Znojmo Vol. 1, PKN Helena Vol. 2, and PKN Providence Vol. 40.

Orange County in the Middle of China, and a Storm Trooper Prepares for His PK Debut
Presentations The first of our two presentations today, "Inside Wood and Paint: The Heart of Making," comes from PKN Taos Vol. 3, and sees Patti Tronolone sharing her paintings and furniture pieces, linking the latter to her love of nature. The second presentation is Kotama Bouabane's "Chinese's Replication of Orange County" (PKN Toronto Vol. 15) in which he reveals a Beijing suburb that was made to look like Orange County in California. Posters We've got two new posters on our Tumblr blog today, one for this Sunday's PKN Lisbon Vol. 14 (above), and one for PKN Kumamoto Vol. 3, which is set for June 1. Photos We of course have a few new galleries to share with you today, but also a fantastic teaser video for the upcoming PKN Guimaraes Vol. 2, above (produced by Damnworks).

And we're not quite sure what the significance of the following photo is (from Flickr user Kalexandersen), but with the title "On stage for a PechaKucha," it felt natural to include it. Links A couple of PK-related links to keep you reading.

On Sunday (May 20), there's the aformentioned PKN Lisbon Vol. 14, as well as PKN Mendoza Vol. 4. For a peek at what next week has to offer, have a look at the full calendar.

Presentations Today's two presentations come your way from Koszalin and Dayton. The one from Koszalin is by none other than PKN Koszalin organizer Gall Podlaszewski, and was done as part of our Global Cities Week. So follow Gall as she talks about her city (in Polish), PechaKucha-style. From Dayton, we get beer afficionado Max Spang who in "What the Hell Is Beer?" will go to great lengths to prove just how much he loves beer (and he's not alone). Posters On the poster front today, we've added three new ones, including posters for the upcoming collaboration between PKN Istanbul and PKN Yerevan (which this time, is an invitation-only event -- pictured above is the poster from the Yerevan side), and the poster for tonight's PKN Taos Vol. 6, celebrating "the remarkable women of Taos." Photos We've started sharing more and more event galleries on our official PechaKucha Night Flickr account -- in the past it was only used for our Tokyo events -- and here are the latest photosets that have been added. Above, a shot from this month's PKN Panjim Vol. 2, followed by a look at PKN Washington Vol. 17.

That Toronto set only has 2 photos, but the accordion player you see pictured is Ben Harvey, and he has performed at both Vol. 14 and Vol. 15. Below is a video of Ben in action (recorded/edited by Circuit Bent Media). httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJcjuELUKk8 Calendar It's looking like a great Friday, with 5 PechaKucha Nights in the calendar for tomorrow (May 18): PKN Zurich Vol. 11, PKN Varberg Vol. 2, PKN Singapore Vol. 4, PKN Lodz Vol. 8, and PKN Hakata Vol. 2.

A city's architecture tends to tell you a lot about that city, and in this presentation, Rachel Preston Prinz highlights various architectural trends that you'll find in the city of Taos, New Mexico -- for example, those ornate bars on the image above are a reaction to the city's proximity to the "frontiere." It was recorded at PechaKucha Night in Taos Vol. 3.
