NEXT EVENT VOL 11

In 2017, North Korea emerged as a nuclear power. Donald Trump took the seat of power in the most powerful country in the world. Power disparities came to light in Hollywood through the publiccation of rampant sexual harassment. Six comic movies came out with heroes sporting super powers (not including Star Wars). Tesla released an electricity powered semi truck. As we enter 2018, we'll continue to see so many different manifestations of power. PechaKucha Silver Spring: Volume 11's theme is Power. Come join us to explore the many different ways we think about power with a handful of speakers, each empowered with 20 slides with each slide timed to 20 seconds.

A small note:

We had complaints about additional fees from our ticketing service, Eventbrite. In addition, they have increased their service fees. We have changed the ticket price to $17 (as opposed to $15 + $2.89 fees), which includes Eventbrite fees. Please let us know what you think about that. But in a polite way.

Also, ticket sales cover the rental cost of the venue, as well as the food and wine, and a small donation to the PechaKucha nonprofit. This is a volunteer organized and volunteer run event.

What to expect:

Come to the Silver Spring Civic Building on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 7-9PM. Spend the first ~20 minutes chatting with some friends, digging tunes, and enjoying beer, wine and light snacks. Around 7:20PM, we'll have the first half of presenters. You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll be full of awe. Intermission. We'll have the second half of presenters where you'll go through a similar roller coaster of emotion as before. Afterwards, hang out and chat until we kick you out.

In "A Myth in the Making" from PechaKucha Night Silver Spring Vol. 7, Pete Tantisunthorn describes that we typically look at myths from a historical perspective but myths, however, are being made everyday.
