PechaKucha Presentation

Inspired by Alvar Aalto

PRESENTED ON APR 19, 2017
IN SEINÄJOKI @ VOL 6

"It's got a very home aesthetic to it, it is very soft and very warm."

In "Inspired by Alvar Aalto" from PechaKucha Night Seinäjoki - Vol. 6, Caleb Jordan, a student from Colorado, says “My interest in Alvar Aalto started when I first came to Finland and went on a tour with my art class of the Alvar Aalto buildings. It was cool to see how his design aesthetic was so simple and modern, but so very unique and so recognizable.“

Inspired by Alvar Aalto?

BY HELENA TERÄVÄINEN
@ VOL 6 ON APR 19, 2017

Helena Teräväinen, TkT, SAFA architect, AALTO ARTS:

Seinäjoella Aalto-keskuksen ”ylhäältä annettu arkkitehtuuri” aiheutti kaupunkikuvaan mielenkiintoisen vastakohtaisuuden: kauneus näyttää rumuuden, ja nyt olen juuri aloittanut seudun arkkitehtuuria käsittelevän teoksen työstämisen: ”Aalto and after”."

Analoginen Aalto

BY ARI HYNYNEN
@ VOL 6 ON APR 19, 2017

Professori Ari Hynynen:

"Kaikki arkkitehdit hylkäävät Aallon jossain vaiheessa. Ja löytävät sitten uudestaan. Luulin itsekin tuntevani hänen töitään jo tarpeeksi, mutta kulttuurin ja yhteiskunnan muutokset avaavat Aallon elämäntyöstä yhä uusia ajankohtaisia puolia. Ja aika usein ne kyseenalaistavat nykymenon."
