Renowned as France's capital of gastronomy, Lyon has a lot going for it. This poster may not sate your hunger for gourmet cuisine, but surely it will satisfy your mad desire for info on PKN Lyon's Vol. 5!
Look closely and you may find that presenters include a marshmallow sculptor, butterfly wing creator, tattoo artist/poet, window taxidermist (what?), as well as the token architect and designer -- check out their latest event next Tuesday, April 16th at Nakamal.

Adopting a Racing Dog, Moving to the Shakespeare Beat, and Pinteresting Finds
Presentations Another fantastic kids presentation from Derby (Vol. 5), this time with Freya talking about her dog Alfie, a retired racing greyhound. If this doesn't convince you that adopting a retired racing dog is a good idea, we don't know what will. Can you move to the Shakespeare beat? Ben Spiller will make sure that you do in his presentation (from PKN Derby Vol. 6), before introducing you to the Shakespeare workout. Some presentations see a person sharing their work, and some see the presenter sharing what inspires him or her. Here (from PKN Pittsfield Vol. 3), Richard Britell does the latter, sharing finds from Pinterest. This presentation (in French, from PKN Lyon Vol. 4) is about Alles Gut, a graphic design studio founded by Antoine Eckart and Francis Josserand. The idea was born from the desire of putting together their skills and their vision of design combining esthetic and function. They act in the field of print (ID, posters, editing), web design, and illustration. And with these four presentations we hit a new milestone today, reaching 600 online presentations -- or make that two, since our city count has just hit 580. Events We announced it a couple of weeks ago, but here's a reminder that here in Tokyo, PechaKucha is teaming up with ArchiAid for a very special event next week (Thursday, November 22) at SuperDeluxe in Roppongi. This PechaKucha event will be jam-packed with an inspirational lineup of architects -- including SANAA and Atelier Bow-Wow -- who will present their ArchiAid-supported projects in Tohoku (northern Japan, the area most affected by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami), using the 20x20 format you know and love. You'll find more event details and the full lineup of presenters on our Facebook event page and Inspire Japan site. Participants will also contribute books to be auctioned during the break, to raise funds. You can also support ArchiAid initiatives through the PechaKucha website -- click on the big blue "A+" logo. Photos Tallinn had its Vol. 6 earlier this week, but here's a photo gallery [Flickr] from the city's Vol. 5, held back in September. You'll find the list of presenters on the official event page. Calendar After a busy week, it's a relatively quiet weekend, with two events scheduled for tonight (Friday, November 16) -- PKN Aalen Vol. 12 and PKN Hamptons Vol. 2 -- and then PKN Johannesburg Vol. 8 happening on Saturday.
SEPTEMBER 18, 2012
Presentations In his presentation (from PKN Chattanooga Vol. 10), Mason West hopes to inspire others -- like he does his students -- to find their inner potential, and break free of the limits that society appears to impose on them. Jason Guo is an architect, and in his presentation (in Chinese, from PKN Shenzhen Vol. 11) he hopes to show how parametric modelling can result in unpredictable imagery. It's a topic he calls "Rules Based Design." Posters We have a two new posters on the Tumblr blog today, for PKN Logrono Vol. 7 (pictured above) and PKN Huddersfield Vol. 7, as well as a flyer for PKN Miami Vol. 17. Photos Lyon's Vol. 4 is happening later this month (on September 25), but here's a photo gallery [Flickr] from this past April's PKN Vol. 3. Calendar Tonight (September 18) you'll find the following events: PKN Louisville Vol. 9, PKN Jacksonville Vol. 21, and PKN Helsingborg Vol. 9. And tomorrow is a big Wednesday that includes two PKN firsts: PKN Bari Vol. 1, PKN Albany Vol. 1, PKN Prague Vol. 30, PKN Kiruna Vol. 3, PKN Dallas Vol. 10, and PKN Stuttgart Vol. 8.

Presentations Cindi Drennan is an Australian multimedia artist/director, who specializes in illuminated audiovisual environments and projection art for public art and events. Her work focuses on projection and audiovisual arts for architecture, public spaces, performance, and theatre. Her multi-disciplinary background encompasses over 25 years experience in filmmaking, illustration, animation, community arts, and interactive media. In her presentation (from PKN Blue Mountains Vol. 2), she discusses how community partnerships between artists, organisations, and businesses take time to develop. In his presentation (in Czech, from PKN Znojmo Vol. 1), David Lobpreis introduces the Denis d'or ("golden Dionysus"), the first electric musical instrument built in Znojmo, around 1750. Posters We have two new posters on the Tumblr blog today, one for PKN Lyon Vol. 4 (pictured above), and also the poster for tonight's PKN Ekaterinburg Vol. 5 -- you'll remember that on Monday we shared the poster for that city's upcoming Vol. 6. Video Here's a video to give you a nice feel of what last Sunday's PKN Heraklion Vol. 3 was like -- it's a teaser for a planned longer version. As organizer Olga Koutantou tells us, not only was it a great event, but there were more than 500 in attendance! Calendar Here's what you'll find in the calendar for tonight: PKN Cleveland Vol. 16, PKN Ekaterinburg Vol. 5, PKN Bozeman Vol. 4, and PKN Stockholm Vol. 35. Tomorrow is another busy night, with the following: PKN Ottawa Vol. 6, PKN Burlington Vol. 8, PKN Perth Vol. 10, PKN Bordeaux Vol. 8, and a special edition PK event in Amsterdam at the Stedelijk Museum.
